One of our parents has kindly organised for Hofner to donate three guitars for the school.
These arrived this week and were unpacked by Joe, our music teacher, and some of our children.
We will be keeping the two child-sized guitars and hopefully using the adult-sized guitar as a fundraiser for our outdoor environment projects.

Our school has been chosen to be part of the Reading Oasis Project!
This means that the school receives new books and furniture to create a 'Reading Oasis' in school.
A number of visitors linked with the project came to visit the school recently and watched a reading session with some of our Year 1 children led by Head Teacher Greg Parker and Year 1 Teacher and English Subject Leader, Rachael Simm.
The Friends of LIPA have a number of events planned for this term:
Saturday 19th March - LIPA Friends Quiz Night
Taking place at Big LIPA, 7pm start. Les Williams (Darcey’s Dad) will be leading the way with the questions. Tickets are £5 and can be ordered from Reception.
Wednesday 23rd March - Easter Eggs-travaganza
We are having a full Easter festivities day. Some things to plan for include:
Family Easter Bingo (straight after school – all welcome)
Easter Hat / Bonnet Competition – please make them at home to bring on the day for a parade and competition.
Headteacher Greg Parker writes:
“Another exciting fortnight in school has seen the Year 1 children visit the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall for the In-Harmony concert. It is quite a walk for two classes of young children – however, they were a credit to our school and to their parents.
“We also had Paul Bradshaw, Liverpool Local Authority E-Safety Lead in school last week to talk to parents and our children about keeping safe online. The session for parents was extremely well-received and has definitely provided some food for thought about how, as adults, we can ensure our children are taught how to use the internet safely and responsibly. There was also some discussion around the suitability of some video games as it would appear that some children as young as 5 are playing them when they are intended for much older children and adults. "Year 1 have been learning about Fair Trade as part of Chocolate Project whilst Reception have been developing their All About Eggs Project.
"Finally, our World Book Day celebration was a great success. All children had sessions on Story Through Drama, Story Through Music and Book Art, which was a particular favourite. The after-school book sale with teas and coffees was a really nice end to the day and raised £229.14.
"Well done to everyone involved!”
We’re back in school and looking forward to another busy half term!
Recently, we have enjoyed a visit from Zoolab, as part of our ‘We Are Scientists’ project – the children met a whole range of different animals and discuss their habitats and what they eat. The favourite animal seemed to be the snake!
We’ve also celebrated National Number Day, with each class learning a number song to perform during assembly. All the children came in their own number-themed clothes, and enjoyed a full day of maths activities in school while also raising money for NSPCC.
Our big celebration last half term, of course, was Chinese New Year, with a visit from Edge Hill University’s Confucius Institute, Chinese arts and crafts (thanks to LIPA Friends), a special Chinese New Year lunch, and a visit to Liverpool’s Chinese Arch – 50 feet tall and the largest outside China!
