Learning through the creative and performing arts
LIPA School aims to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) being met in a mainstream classroom wherever possible. We want all of our children to know that they are included and valued and will support them to access the whole curriculum with adaptations being made where needed.
With regard to Admissions, if there are more applications than there are places available, as required by Section 324 of the Education Act (1996) and any subsequent amendments to the Act, we will first automatically admit all children with a statement of Special Educational Need (SEN) where Liverpool City Council (LCC) has agreed to name the School on the child’s statement or Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) (under Section 324 of the 1996 Education Act). Admission arrangements for children with statement of SEN is a separate procedure, integral to the role and responsibility of LCC to make and maintain such statements. The School will meet and abide fully by the requirements of these arrangements, as detailed in the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.
Please see our Admissions Policy for full details.
Please try not to worry if you or your child's teacher believe your child may have Special Educational Needs. There are lots of people in school who can help and we will do all we can to make sure your child receives the support they need. If you have any questions or queries about Special Educational Needs at any point during your child's time at our school, please do not hesitate to contact the class team or our SENCo's.
