Learning through the creative and performing arts
Our Year 6 pupils have been investigating their very own crime scene after the mysterious disappearance of head teacher Mr Parker. As part of their project Law and Order – Crime and Punishment, the pupils looked for clues within the crime scene and met with Mr Parker’s twin to ask questions about the disappearance. Following this, they met their learning objectives by writing up news articles for the school newspaper in their English lessons, using Who, What, When, Where, Why and How to guide their writing.
The crime scene investigation follows a question and answer session the pupils did with Miss Atherton, who talked to them about her experience of doing jury service. Together, they looked at the role of jurors, what they actually do in the courtroom and how decisions are made regarding a person’s guilt or innocence.
